I’ve often thought that there are three most important decisions in life. It’s important to get these three right because your quality of life will greatly emanate from them. Yes, there are many more important decisions along the way, but these three in my mind, are ones that provide the foundation, and key direction in one’s life.
First decision is acceptance of Jesus Christ as one’s Lord and Savior. Unequivocally, this is the most important decision in one’s life. It will greatly affect one’s quality of life, presently, and in the life hereafter.
The second most important decision in one’s life is who one marries. Lives are destroyed through marital strife and divorces. For a Christian, it’s so important not to become unequally yoked. Having the same goals, objectives and values in life is requisite to success. It’s better being unmarried than being married to the wrong person.
The third most important decision is what one does for a vocation, i.e., what one does to earn a living. I’ve told adolescents to look within themselves, and consider what they really like doing. Based on personal desires, then I often recommend considering that as a pursuit in life. Oftentimes, as a natural consequence, one will have the innate skills to pursue what they really enjoy. One who really enjoys working on cars may have been called to be a mechanic. One who really enjoys building things may have been called to be a carpenter. Check the desire, and pursue.
