Government decisions and the will of the people often diametrically oppose each other. Government is supposed to represent the will of the people, but now in America, it’s basically not true. I was reading an article by David Barton, and he cited statistics from a Gallup Poll taken a few years ago. Figures highlighted how more than 80 percent approved of voluntary prayer in school; 81 percent of the nation opposed homosexuality; and how 89 percent opposed the use of abortion as a means of birth control.
I then thought back to when the Panama Canal was given away to Panama through the Carter-Torrijos Treaty. I remember one poll during that period stating that 76 percent of the nation opposed this action. Yet, the government gave it away anyway, and then a Chinese-based company came in to run it versus an American company.
How does government get away with this, and who do they truly work for? First, there’s apathy and prayerlessness in the church. God wants Christians to pray for civic leaders because policies affect the nation. Part of that prayer should be to uproot the wicked from office. Second, there is a global elite. They serve in the shadows and influence government officials to pass the laws they want.
It should be a common, ongoing practice for churches, and Christians individually, to pray and intercede for America. America has been hijacked, and if Christians don’t pray and repent for America, then I assure you that the glory of America is behind her.
